YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

F.A.Q

Our knowledgeable and friendly customer service team gives your accurate pre-forma information so you can determine what services are the most appropriate for your needs.

Translation Questions

In the UK, if you need to certify a translation of a document that’s not written in English or Welsh, the translator or translation agency must confirm in writing on the translation:

  • that it’s a ‘true and accurate translation of the original document’
  • the date of the translation
  • the translator or translation agency’s credentials and contact details.

Our standard Certified Translation meet these criteria, which makes it acceptable across the UK.

FYI: https://www.gov.uk/certifying-a-document

Yes, absolutely. We will refund our certification fees if not accepted in the UK! T&C apply.

Our standard certified translation is accepted by UK Home Office, UKVI, HM Passport Office, UK ENIC (formerly NARIC), UCAS, General Medical Council (GMC), General Dental Council (GDC), Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), as well as by universities, colleges, local councils and most government bodies and foreign embassies in the UK.

However, you should always clarify which level of certification is required with the relevant orgnisation or body before placing your order.

In the UK, a certified translation serves as the equivalent of a sworn translation. However, some authorities and in certain UK court proceedings, the court may require a translator’s statement of truth to certify an official translation.

Further, if you are using the translation abroad or as part of a visa application submitted to a forgien embassy or authority, you may need the translation Notarised by a British Notary Public or Legalised ”Apostilled” by the UK Foreign Office.

Please make sure you clarify which level of certification is required with the relevant authorities before placing your order.

The short answer: No.

Actually you are more likely to need the certified translation in digital PDF format than a physical hard copy. In this day and age majority of procedures are completed and submitted online or by email. Our electronically signed PDF are as good and valid as a hard copies. It actually gives you more control should you need to re-use the translation in future. Quite simply it save you time and money, save trees and environment in terms of pollution, and save us a trip to the post office!

We’re, of course, happy to provide a hard copy if you prefer to have one.

We do not need the original documents for most circumstances.

Photocopies can be scanned and sent by email, Whatsapp, post or alternatively handed into our office in person (by appointment only).

Documents may also be uploaded by using the Qoute Request form HERE.

The originals of some documents that are being Legalised/Apostilled may be required.

Originals are normally required for ACROs, Criminal Record Disclosures, Court documents or any document that is issued by a UK Registry Office, if they need to be Legalised/Apostilled.

Legalisation Service Questions

An apostille is a certificate that confirms the authenticity of the signature, the capacity in which the person signing the document has acted, and where appropriate, the identity of the seal or stamp which the document bears. The process of obtaining an Apostille is called Legalisation.

Apostilles are only issued by countries who are members of the Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents. You can find an updated list of member countries directly on the official website.

The Apostille or legalisation process can be confusing, so if you wish to avoid costly mistakes, our translation and legalisation service will ensure your documents are prepared correctly, quickly, and cost-effectively.

We are registered with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to take documents to their office in person on behalf of our clients.

If you want to send your documents directly to the Foreign Office, please go to their website to find out more information. We do not offer information about other services or the services provided by the FCDO. Please go to the FCDO website if you want to send your documents directly to them.

We offer both a standard and express service. However, for both these options the turnaround time will be based on the number of words and level of certification required. Despite the fact that we offer a faster service, we always advise our customers to certify their documents as far in advance as possible. You may use our Instant Quote form, to calculate the costs & turnaround time.
